Dairyland began life in the early 1950s as a small walk up hamburger and ice cream stand. After a change of ownership in the 1960s, a dining room was added and a larger menu was also offered. In the 1970s Dairyland even hosted teen dances and activities. Through many changes of ownership and uses, this facility has always been community oriented. Offered for sale at auction in early 2008, Dairyland was most likely destined for the wrecking ball, but through a series of events,  new life has been breathed into an old Perry staple. Donated equipment, materials and artifacts like the original ice cream cone sign from 1953 have transformed this little building into a useful vibrant community hub. From birthday and graduation parties to political forums or from sit down dinners to bible study classes, Dairyland  Historic Community Center is great place to gather.
